वैशंपायन उवाच ।
१.६०.१
ब्रह्मणो मानसाः पुत्रा विदिताः षण्महर्षयः ।
एकादश सुताः स्थाणोः ख्याताः परममानसाः ॥
M N Dutt Vaishampayana said : It is known that the mind-born sons of Brahma were six great Rishis. There was another (mind-borm son of Brahma,) named Sthanu. He had eleven sons gifted with great energy,

अत्रेस्तु बहवः पुत्राः श्रूयन्ते मनुजाधिप ।
सर्वे वेदविदः सिद्धाः शान्तात्मानो महर्षयः ॥

तस्य शाखो विशाखश्च नैगमेशश्च पृष्ठजः ।
कृत्तिकाभ्युपपत्तेश्च कार्त्तिकेय इति स्मृतः ॥

भूषणानां च सर्वेषां कर्ता शिल्पवतां वरः ।
यो दिव्यानि विमानानि देवतानां चकार ह ॥

M N Dutt Mankind was enabled to live in consequence of the arts of this illustrious man and for this reason he was worshipped by all men. This Vishvakarma is everlasting and immutable,

मरीचेः कश्यपः पुत्रः कश्यपस्य सुरासुराः ।
जज्ञिरे नृपशार्दूल लोकानां प्रभवस्तु सः ॥
M N Dutt Kashyapa was the son of Marichi and Kashyapa's offspring were the Suras (celestial) and Asuras. O best of kings, therefore, he is the progenitor of all the worlds.
१.६०.४४
च्यवनं दीप्ततपसं धर्मात्मानं मनीषिणम् ।
यः स रोषाच्च्युतो गर्भान्मातुर्मोक्षाय भारत ॥
M N Dutt Named Chyavana, who was greatly famous, very virtuous minded and as effulgent as the sun. O descendant of the Bharata race, he came out of his mother's womb in anger and thus released his mother.
