सूत उवाच ।
१.१५.२
यं तं देवगणाः सर्वे हृष्टरूपा अपूजयन् ।
मथ्यमानेऽमृते जातमश्वरत्नमनुत्तमम् ॥
M N Dutt (It was the horse) who was worshipped by the celestials, who was the gem among all horses, who rose at the churning of the ocean for the Ambrosia,
१.१५.३
महौघबलमश्वानामुत्तमं जवतां वरम् ।
श्रीमन्तमजरं दिव्यं सर्वलक्षणलक्षितम् ॥
M N Dutt Who was divine, graceful, ever-young, irresistible, vigorous, who was creator's masterpiece and who was blessed with all the auspicious marks.
शौनक उवाच ।
१.१५.४
कथं तदमृतं देवैर्मथितं क्व च शंस मे ।
यत्र जज्ञे महावीर्यः सोऽश्वराजो महाद्युतिः ॥
M N Dutt Why and where did the celestial churn the ocean for the Ambrosia, in which did rise, as you say, this best of steeds, so powerful and resplendent? Tell me this.
सूत उवाच ।
१.१५.६
काञ्चनाभरणं चित्रं देवगन्धर्वसेवितम् ।
अप्रमेयमनाधृष्यमधर्मबहुलैर्जनैः ॥
M N Dutt Decked with gold and exceedingly beautiful, this mountain is frequented by the Devas and Gandharvas; it is immeasurable and unapproachable by men of many sins.
१.१५.१०
ते मन्त्रयितुमारब्धास्तत्रासीना दिवौकसः ।
अमृतार्थे समागम्य तपोनियमसंस्थिताः ॥
M N Dutt They, who had practised penances and observed vows, came in quest of the Ambrosia. They consulted together about the possession of the Ambrosia and seeing them in this mood Narayana addressed Brahma saying;

तत्र नारायणो देवो ब्रह्माणमिदमब्रवीत् ।
चिन्तयत्सु सुरेष्वेवं मन्त्रयत्सु च सर्वशः ॥

सर्वौषधीः समावाप्य सर्वरत्नानि चैव हि ।
मन्थध्वमुदधिं देवा वेत्स्यध्वममृतं ततः ॥
M N Dutt "Churn the ocean with both the Devas and the Asuras. By doing so, the Ambrosia and all drugs and gems will be obtained. O celestials, churn the ocean and you will get the Ambrosia.
