मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।

तस्यां रात्र्यां व्यतीतायामुदिते सूर्यमण्डले ।
कृतपूर्वाह्णिकाः सर्वे समेयुस्ते तपोधनाः ॥

Markandeya said : The night having come to a close, when the sun's disc had appeared (on the horizon), all th 'se ascetius, whose only wealth devotion, having performed their mations, congregated (at the asylum of Dyumatsena).
३.२८३.२
तदेव सर्वं सावित्र्या महाभाग्यं महर्षयः ।
द्युमत्सेनाय नातृप्यन्कथयन्तः पुनः पुनः ॥
द्युमत्सेनाय नातृप्यन्कथयन्तः पुनः पुनः ॥

was Those great sages were never satisfied in relating again and again of the high fortune of Savitri, to Dyumatsena.
३.२८३.३
ततः प्रकृतयः सर्वाः शाल्वेभ्योऽभ्यागता नृप ।
आचख्युर्निहतं चैव स्वेनामात्येन तं नृपम् ॥

Then, O king, it so chanced that all the subjects came from Shalva and informed Dyumatsena of the death of his enemy at the hands of his own minister.
३.२८३.४
तं मन्त्रिणा हतं श्रुत्वा ससहायं सबान्धवम् ।
न्यवेदयन्यथातत्त्वं विद्रुतं च द्विषद्बलम् ॥
न्यवेदयन्यथातत्त्वं विद्रुतं च द्विषद्बलम् ॥

And they related to him all that had taken place saying "hearing the death of the usurper together with his friends and allies at the hands of his own minister and of the dispersion of his troops, all the subjects have in one voice declared for you, their legitimate king and they have also said whether you are blind or not you shall be (their) king.

ऐकमत्यं च सर्वस्य जनस्याथ नृपं प्रति ।
सचक्षुर्वाप्यचक्षुर्वा स नो राजा भवत्विति ॥

O king, we have been dispatched to you on the strength of this determination (on the part of your subjects to install you king). These cars and these four kinds of troops have arrived for you.

प्रयाहि राजन्भद्रं ते घुष्टस्ते नगरे जयः ।
अध्यास्स्व चिररात्राय पितृपैतामहं पदम् ॥
अध्यास्स्व चिररात्राय पितृपैतामहं पदम् ॥

(Therefore), O monarch, do set out. May you prosper. Your restoration has been proclaimed in the city. May you for ever occupy the portion filled by your sire and grandsire."
३.२८३.८
चक्षुष्मन्तं च तं दृष्ट्वा राजानं वपुषान्वितम् ।
मूर्धभिः पतिताः सर्वे विस्मयोत्फुल्ललोचनाः ॥
मूर्धभिः पतिताः सर्वे विस्मयोत्फुल्ललोचनाः ॥

And seeing the king restored to sight and healthy, they with their eyes expanded in wonder, bowed down their heads to him.
३.२८३.९
ततोऽभिवाद्य तान्वृद्धान्द्विजानाश्रमवासिनः ।
तैश्चाभिपूजितः सर्वैः प्रययौ नगरं प्रति ॥
तैश्चाभिपूजितः सर्वैः प्रययौ नगरं प्रति ॥

Then the king having greeted all the aged Brahmanas inhabiting the hermitage and in his turn being greeted by them, set out for his capital.
३.२८३.१०
शैब्या च सह सावित्र्या स्वास्तीर्णेन सुवर्चसा ।
नरयुक्तेन यानेन प्रययौ सेनया वृता ॥
नरयुक्तेन यानेन प्रययौ सेनया वृता ॥

And Shaivya together with Savitri surrounded by troops, went in a palanquin, adorned with splendid sheets and carried by men.
३.२८३.११
ततोऽभिषिषिचुः प्रीत्या द्युमत्सेनं पुरोहिताः ।
पुत्रं चास्य महात्मानं यौवराज्येऽभ्यषेचयन् ॥
पुत्रं चास्य महात्मानं यौवराज्येऽभ्यषेचयन् ॥

Then the priests joyfully installed Dyumatsena as king and his high-souled son as prince regent.
३.२८३.१२
ततः कालेन महता सावित्र्याः कीर्तिवर्धनम् ।
तद्वै पुत्रशतं जज्ञे शूराणामनिवर्तिनाम् ॥
तद्वै पुत्रशतं जज्ञे शूराणामनिवर्तिनाम् ॥

After a long time Savitri was deliver of a hundred heroic and illustrious sons who never retreated from battle.
३.२८३.१३
भ्रातॄणां सोदराणां च तथैवास्याभवच्छतम् ।
मद्राधिपस्याश्वपतेर्मालव्यां सुमहाबलम् ॥
मद्राधिपस्याश्वपतेर्मालव्यां सुमहाबलम् ॥

She had also one hundred highly powerful uterine brothers begotten by Ashvapati, the king of Madra, on Malavi.
३.२८३.१४
एवमात्मा पिता माता श्वश्रूः श्वशुर एव च ।
भर्तुः कुलं च सावित्र्या सर्वं कृच्छ्रात्समुद्धृतम् ॥
भर्तुः कुलं च सावित्र्या सर्वं कृच्छ्रात्समुद्धृतम् ॥

Thus Savitri rescued from misfortune, her own self, her father, mother-in law, father-inlaw and her husband's line.
३.२८३.१५
तथैवैषापि कल्याणी द्रौपदी शीलसंमता ।
तारयिष्यति वः सर्वान्सावित्रीव कुलाङ्गना ॥
तारयिष्यति वः सर्वान्सावित्रीव कुलाङ्गना ॥

Similarly, the auspicious Draupadi of excellent character, will deliver you all from your misfortune as the virtuous Savitri did.
वैशंपायन उवाच ।
३.२८३.१६
एवं स पाण्डवस्तेन अनुनीतो महात्मना ।
विशोको विज्वरो राजन्काम्यके न्यवसत्तदा ॥
विशोको विज्वरो राजन्काम्यके न्यवसत्तदा ॥

Vaishampayana said : Thus, O monarch, instructed by that highsouled one ((Markandeya), the Pandava (Yudhishthira) devoid of grief and affliction continued to dwell in Kamyaka.
