चिरं रुदित्वा करुणं सशब्दं
गोत्राऽभिधायं सरितं समेत्य ।
मध्येजलाद्राघवलक्ष्मणाभ्यां
प्रत्तं जलं द्व्यञ्जलमन्तिकेऽपाम् ॥

Karandikar Having wept for long, piteously and loudly, and (then) having gone to the river and (dipped) in the midstream, water was offered, near the waters, by Rama and Laksmana (in oblation) with the cavity of the joined palms, after uttering (Dasaratha's) name.
